Sunday 4th June 2023

Kalbarri Lights Up is a new free annual community arts and cultural event to compliment Adventurethon over the June Long Weekend, where everyone is welcome. As we approach the winter solstice and the longest and darkest nights of the year, Kalbarri Lights Up will inspire you with a colourful display of glowing and fully lit installations around Sally’s Tree, with DJs, live music, food trucks, a special sunset ceremony and fun on the beach and jetty for kids from 4pm.

The winter solstice has cultural, spiritual, and astronomical significance. It has been observed by various cultures and religions around the world for thousands of years, and it’s often celebrated as a time of renewal, rebirth, and hope as it marks the turning point of the year, when the days start getting longer, and the sun begins to return.

Accommodation and camp spots are filling up fast, so book yours today. Contact the Visitors Centre for local maps, timetables, tours and activities; look out for special event signage around town and pick up a copy of Kalbarri Town Talk magazine when you arrive.

Be the first to experience a new kind of celestial event as Kalbarri Lights Up the night sky this June Long Weekend.
