Australian Army Band Perth is based at Irwin Barracks, Karrakatta. This distinguished group maintains a high standard of performance at official and public performances in the state through participation in military ceremonies and parades, Regal, Vice Regal, Federal, State and Territory Government ceremonial functions, music education programs, concerts and community activities. The band’s two major capabilities are the military band and the pipes and drums, and are able to provide support with small ensembles, a rock band, big band, buglers and pipers.
The Band looks forward to performing in Kalbarri – a favourite town to visit for many members of the ensemble. The banks of the Murchison River together with the sun setting behind it will provide a perfect setting for the concert. The Band will perform a wide variety of music, ranging from swing band jazz from yesteryear right through to contemporary covers of pop and rock music from today’s best musicians. Expect the Band’s vocalists, Troy Fleming and Danae to Bumford to be a hit with the crowd – both excellent musicians and entertainers alike.
The Band acknowledges the effect Cyclone Seroja had on Kalbarri must have been devastating for the town. Australian Army Band Perth hopes to bring a fun, cheerful mood to the occasion – hopefully it will bring joy to the town that has been impacted so thoroughly by the natural disaster.
